The new LSS Computational Illumination Series from CCS is a Computational Imaging (CI) lighting solution to advance Machine Vision imaging. CI – with its targeted feature extraction – works by creating a composite image through multi-shot image capture, enabling MV systems to produce better quality or previously impossible images. In contrast, traditional image acquisition often requires substantial post-capture image processing and can still fall short in producing the optimal image. Overall, CI reduces system development times and significantly lowers costs.
The LSS Series utilizes programmable lighting controllers and illuminators – including segmented Ring and Bar lights with Full Color and Multispectral wavelength options – which create lighting sequences that vary application-specific parameters such as illumination direction or angle, wavelength, intensity, or focus. The LSS-2404 Light Sequencing Switch provides the timing at the heart of any Computational Imaging system with an easy-to-use interface specifically designed to create lighting sequences and patterns. With an open architecture design, it easily integrates with industry-standard imaging software and MV libraries and is compatible with any machine vision camera and most Smart cameras. LSS can be configured as a master or slave in a system, and programmable I/O allows easy interfacing to other system hardware such as PLCs. Users can select from dedicated CI lights from CCS or use breakout cables and many CCS standard lighting products.
