Collaborative Robots and Vision Inspection

Collaborative robots can be combined with machine vision to perform inspections that require multiple vantage points. A camera mounted on a robot is more flexible then multiple fixed mounted cameras for hard to reach places and can be more easily adapted for future requirements and new part types. Collaborative inspection solutions also come with all of the advantages of the collaborative robots such as minimal guarding requirements and working with humans. We have found these types of solutions to be great for large or complex assemblies and can be used for everything from label inspection to connector inspection.

The video example uses a collaborative Universal Robot to inspect 20 distinct inspection points. The limitation of inspections comes from the spreadsheet space in the camera, but job loads could be performed to make the capabilities infinite.
